Google TV Ads doesn't even answer inquiries about this "service" anymore. I tried multiple times but they don't respond. I think they dropped the ball like they have with so many of their other experiments. Going with the dot com Cheap TV Spots which got back to me within an hour.

There's a big difference between ads that are memorable and ads that convert.

Making an ad that people will remember because it annoys them or on the flip-side they enjoy it because its funny, doesn't necessarily mean that it will generate sales.

It is just amazing that now TV commercial is available to me to advertise. To get noticed either your TV Commercial Video should be too Good or totally bad. Either way people will remember your ad. But an average ad will be forgotten in no time. I don't know how many people agree with me.

Conrad,
You'll notice that this post was full of caveats. And I wasn't suggesting that Google TV would replace know-how.

It is very interesting, and yes the barrier to entry is dramatically lowered by this. But doing everything yourself really is no substitution for real professional media planning, copywriting, production, and split-testing.

Assuming 1.3 mil viewers, 1,300 of them went to the site... that conversion is .1% - less than one-tenth the "acceptable" rate.

Even on an ok campaign, its usually not worth it unless you get between 1 or 2 % conversion.

So why get 1,300 people when you could get 13,000 for the same cost for an appropriately crafted, targeted and placed campaign?

Sure its easy and you can do it yourself in your underwear. But it may not be necessarily CHEAPER, and it certainly isn't BETTER.

Shannon,
I think some of the networks offer local availabilities. You may want to check out the Google TV Ads Blog: http://google-tmads.blogspot.com/

I love this idea, but can i run these ads on just my local TV station to promote my 24 hour gym and tannnig center, also i own a fitness marketing site to teach gym owners how to market their gym's , but cant figure out which network would carry my audience. Any ideas?

Incredible. Traditionally, it would cost hundreds of dollars to get an ad on TV because of production costs of the actual ad itself. It's amazing that it can now be done for as little as $100.
